Incidentally, the cartoonist who did the above was fired for it.

So, this seems . . . not good.

Inside the Secret Border Patrol Facebook Group Where Agents Joke About Migrant Deaths and Post Sexist Memes
The three-year-old group, which has roughly 9,500 members, shared derogatory comments about Latina lawmakers who plan to visit a controversial Texas detention facility on Monday, calling them “scum buckets” and “hoes.”

Former ICE Chief Counsel Gets 4 Years In Prison For Stealing Immigrants' Identities
Quote:
Raphael A. Sanchez, who was chief counsel at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Seattle when he opened credit cards and took out loans using the personal information of vulnerable immigrants, has been sentenced to four years in prison.

He took a plea deal with the Justice Department, which was approved by a judge on Thursday. He has also been ordered to pay more than $190,000 in restitution.

Sanchez — whose responsibilities included overseeing immigration removal cases in several states — stole and exploited the identities of people who prosecutors say were "particularly vulnerable given their status as deported or otherwise excludable."

Migrant kids in overcrowded Arizona border station allege sex assault, retaliation from U.S. agents

Quote:
The poor treatment of migrant children at the hands of U.S. border agents in recent months extends beyond Texas to include allegations of sexual assault and retaliation for protests, according to dozens of accounts by children held in Arizona collected by government case managers and obtained by NBC News.

A 16-year-old Guatemalan boy held in Yuma, Arizona, said he and others in his cell complained about the taste of the water and food they were given. The Customs and Border Protection agents took the mats out of their cell in retaliation, forcing them to sleep on hard concrete.

A 15-year-old girl from Honduras described a large, bearded officer putting his hands inside her bra, pulling down her underwear and groping her as part of what was meant to be a routine pat down in front of other immigrants and officers.

NBC obtained reports from children being held in a CBP facility in Yuma, AZ.

Disgusting. You would think we could greet people at our border and turn them away if they are not fit to enter and still treat them with dignity, humanity and respect. That we are incapable of that is embarrassing.

There was a good, extensive interview on Pod Save America with one of the lawyers who visited the Clint detention camp and exposed the conditions to the media.

I wasn't aware of what's actually supposed to happen with the kids who arrive.

They're supposed to held no longer than 72 hours, and then released to 1) their parents if possible 2) a relative or 3) a guardian approved by the parents. If none of those conditions can be met, only then is the government supposed to hold them.

What I've heard reported elsewhere is that many of these kids have people they can go to and contact information, and DHS/CBP simply isn't calling them.

The lawyer also suspected and got confirmation from the kids that a warehouse on the site with no AC was housing between 100-300 of the kids at various times.

Lots more detail in the interview, but it's worth a listen.

ICE arrested 600+ undocumented workers at food processing plants.

Their kids were left without them, and many ended up getting put in a gym for the night.

None of the owners of the food processing plants was arrested or cited for hiring violations.

Meanwhile Trump made a campaign ad out of going to El Paso and Ohio, were he was demonstrably unwelcome but still was able to cut together a video of his triumphant trip.

This is hell.

I'm sure there is a non-profit somewhere affiliated with the right wing that will get some funding to take care of these kids until Betsy DeVos' friends can adopt them and change their names to like Josh and Kaitlyn. They'll end up in a good Christian home.
