I agree with 33rd, it is normalization, but also just fatigue is a big factor.

Not to be a dick or anything, but what I said upthread a few posts back about this is the most important thing as far as what this board can do. Whether you’re a bible belt conservative or an anarchist in a blue state, please oh please shut the entire [expletive] up about how Hillary or Obama or Biden is just as bad as Trump. Just stop it. They’re not, and you sound foolish when you say that to a critical thinker who has even a light grasp on objectivity, and you’re part of the problem in normalizing Trump to un-critical thinkers who need stuff like the internet or FOX News or Breitbart or their far far far left opposites to tell them how the world works. Just stop it.

Change rarely comes without discord. People feel threatened by change and try to protect their status. Often this fear is irrational.

Trump GOP ism plays to this clearly. Their take on AOC is absurd -equating their role in the govt debate with criminality.

Our demographic group (white males, middle aged and our white Male offspring) is the worst and most susceptible because we feel we have most to lose with changing demographics and nature of the the workforce structure.

We should counsel these guys about their irrational fears - no fella, trans people aren't raping our wives in bathrooms etc. Or yes, white males still will be able to get jobs the same way we always did, just have to try instead of having it handed to you, pal.

It is these irrational fears that are making their way to the El Paso shooter types.

Anyways, it is all pathetic, especially considering we still are firmly planted on top of the socio-economic food chain.

Are the Republicans trying to get Ilhan Omar killed?
Quote:
Is the Republican party actually trying to get the Minnesota congresswoman Ilhan Omar killed? If the question sounds outrageous, consider what has happened in the last couple of weeks alone.

While soliciting campaign contributions through email, George Buck, a Florida Republican candidate who is running for Congress, called for Omar’s execution, then denied doing so, then suggested it again later that same day.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota, Danielle Stella, a Republican candidate attempting to unseat Omar from her congressional post, was suspended from Twitter for twice suggesting that the Muslim congresswoman be tried for treason and hanged.

And in western New York, Patrick W Carlineo Jr pleaded guilty recently to threatening to assault and murder Omar. He called her DC office last spring, stating that he was a Trump-loving patriot and asking a staffer, “Do you work for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are you working for her? She’s a [expletive] terrorist. Somebody ought to put a bullet in her skull. Back in the day, our forefathers would have put a bullet in her [expletive].”

The staffer also remembered Carlineo saying, “I’ll put a bullet in her [expletive] skull.” A subsequent search of his property discovered that Carlineo possessed a loaded .45 caliber handgun, three rifles, two shotguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a clear violation since Carlineo has a previous conviction for criminal mischief, barring him from owning any firearms.

A Washington state lawmaker who moonlights as a wannabe theocrat has stumbled into FBI scrutiny over a how-to guide he wrote on killing non-believers and establishing a Christian theocracy.

Five-term Washington state Rep. Matt Shea has been circulating a manual for holy war in the United States, the Seattle Times reported.

The four-page document, titled "Biblical Basis for War," goes point-by-point over how a Christian theocratic movement could — and should — exterminate its opposition in a battle to win a hypothetical holy war.

At the outset, Shea's holy army would issue terms of surrender to its enemies. The demands include "stop all abortions," "no same-sex marriage," "no idolatry or occultism," "no communism," and "must obey Biblical law."

If the rest of the country refuses to "yield" to these terms, the document advocates a final solution: "kill all males."

Yup - he's the point of the "Harboring Terrorists?" thread.

At least in this case, for the last 10 years, yes, the GOP has been harboring a terrorist.

The latest on Matt Shea:

Washington State Lawmaker Who Engaged in Domestic Terrorism Refuses to Resign

Quote:
Spokane, Washington — A Washington state lawmaker took part in "domestic terrorism" against the United States during a 2016 standoff at a wildlife refuge in Oregon and trained young people to fight a "holy war," according to an investigative report released Thursday.

The report prepared for the state Legislature said Representative Matt Shea, a Republican from Spokane Valley in eastern Washington, traveled throughout the West meeting with far-right extremist groups, condoned intimidating opponents and promoted militia training by the Patriot Movement for possible armed conflict with law enforcement.

Shea was suspended from the state House Republican Caucus Thursday evening, advised by members of both parties to resign and will be removed from his committee assignments.

Awful. -Mary, you ever heard of the murder of the Goldmark family in the 80s. I learned about last year. Simply awful, and surprising the tale isnt told in US history books. Once upon a time Goldmark started rural electrical coops to give locals an option vs private monopoly electricity. CO-OP, thus he was labled a Communist by right wing agitators. And one of their right wing asswipes murdered the family.

The recent right wing terrorism in PNW brings it to mind.

A white woman saw a 14 year old Hispanic girl walking down the sidewalk so she decided to drive off the road and try to run her over:
Iowa woman admits she hit 14-year-old with SUV because the girl 'is Mexican'

Then this happened:
Police: Woman charged in hit-and-run used racial slurs at gas station after crash

But there are fine people on both sides. Of course you don't mention all the liberals that go out of their way to run over Republicans. That wouldn't fit your narrative.
