But their money is never Trump. So if they're lopping off the farthest fringes to the other side or the subversion of democracy (a little perverse to say) or whatever it is, I still think it's a bit of a victory.

They can come out and say they don't like the quasi-fascist direction of the GOP and try to paint themselves as good guys. But in reality they're trying to make sure any future AOC's get beat in the primary. They want to keep it so the choices in the general election are fascists versus corporate Democrats. The Kochs know they can live with either of those options. They also know that if the choice in the general is between an actual progressive and a fascist, the fascist will lose and they may actually have to pay taxes, or pay their employees more, or pay attention to the environment, etc. All those things they don't want to do.

I'm not the least bit interested in defending the Kochs. But I do see a little sliver of light in them not funding Trump and funding Democrats.

Doesn't look like they're directing any money to specifically defeat fringe GOP, just supporting more centrist Democrats in primaries. I assume the intent there is just in case the Democrat wins, not to actually help them defeat the GOP candidate. It makes sense for them. If you're conservative and can have Dan Lipinski or Marie Newman, you want Dan Lipinski to stay in there because he'll vote your way 50% of the time.

I'm skeptical that their spending would make any real difference though.

I know whose interests they are serving. At least they can see that whatever gains (and Lord knows what he might promise them. Betsy DeVoss, ffs) they may get from jumping on the MAGA ship won't be worth much in the hellscape of the Trump future, or worth stamping your name on hateful Nationalism or whatever it is--just hedging that this is a bit too much and fearing Les Miserable? I see some daylight.

It could be worse, at least.

Almost all the candidates answering a series of questions from the NYT

Nobody answers the Israel question well IMO. Buttigieg gets close. Moulton quickly slips in that sometimes they don’t uphold human rights standards. Castro does ok. Tulsi is like a deer in the headlights. Warren and Sanders resort to cliches that don’t answer the question. Almost nothing about what’s actually happening to the Palestinians.

Biden is the only one who declined to participate

I’m waiting for my Amy Klobuchar bumper sticker to come in the mail, but since I don’t have a car, I’m going to have to find another place to put it. Our apartment complex doesn’t allow you to put anything on your door, and I live at the end of the hall anyway so no one would see it except my neighbor directly across from me. Any suggestions?
