They barely even try to pretend anymore that this is about "spreading Democracy".

Between this and McConnell's anti-democracy voting thing, it's been refreshing to see these fascists drop the pretense and just admit it's about them and their friends getting money and that's it.

and I haven't heard a word about it from the media yet. We are literally starting another war for oil and everyone is quiet. BTW at this point if you are stupid enough to join the military you really do get what you deserve.

But Ima there so many young men who really don't have any better option than to offer themselves up as cannon fodder for the new feudal lords. It's a tragedy.

The saddest part is that 99% of them say it's for the "free education."

"Free Education." All they had to do was possibly trade their lives.

It's a double bonus because not only do they get to steal resources for profit, but they also get to eliminate one of the few governments in the world experimenting with an alternate economic system. Our oligarchs can't accept the masses even getting a whiff of an alternate economic system. Sanction them, isolate them, overthrow their government, maybe even go to war with them, then say "See? Socialism is a failure"* then go in and take away all the resources they were using to prop up their fledgling political experiment.

* Venezuela does not have real socialism IMO because they had a very heavy top down approach, but they were trying different things than what we do, so it must be quashed.

Well, Venezuela is a total disaster and has been just getting worse and worse for a long time. Bad, crooked, lying, corrupt politicians can come from all points on the ideological spectrum. Chavez was bad and Maduro is worse. There is no sugar coating it. What they are doing isn't working and it has little to nothing to do with US policy towards Venezuela. Up until a couple weeks ago Venezuela was still selling 40% of its crude oil to the US.

None of that is to say the Trump administration is handling this in an intelligent fashion, but this is not really a quash socialism thing. Venezuela has steadily descended into chaos and utter poverty through no fault of anyone but Chavez and Maduro.

This is a very inaccurate take imo. Manipulating oil prices in conjunction with the Saudis is right at the top of the CIA's playbook when it wants to squeeze Russia and Venezuela. It's not a coincidence that during the heyday of Chavez's administration and the high point of the Venezuelan economy, the US released a ton of oil from our reserve and the Saudis dropped prices causing the price to plummet. I'm sure you guys remember the weird blip in 2005-2006 when gas was in the $1.25-1.50/gallon range.
