I wonder if Beto knows that he will lose a senate race and that being 2x loser of a senate race is way more damaging to your marketability than losing a presidential primary and that's why he won't do it?

I don't think anyone "knows" that Beto can't beat a GOP buttwipe with a 37% approval rating who votes 95.3% of the time with a profoundly unpopular president in a state in which the President just made an ass of himself and in which the demographic is changing rapidly as the state grows sub- and urbanized faster than any other in the US.

I do think he knows that he can't win POTUS, and he's still in. So I feel fairly safe in speculating that he's not avoiding a contest because he thinks it's insurmountable.

Me too, which is why it's explicitly not what I was speculating. Losing the primary = not bad for his brand. Losing a second senate race = possibly damaging to his brand.

I don't have an opinion, I'm just wondering and thought it'd be fun to discuss!

Sestak's gotta drop soon. He's spent a remarkable 44% of his campaign days in Iowa--Bullock is 2nd highest there at 18%--and he is nowhere in the polls in that state. He's not going to make the next debate. He doesn't have much campaign money. Would not be surprised if he's gone very soon.

Hickenlooper thinking of dropping out and running for Senate.

Do it, John. Then convince your buddy Beto to do the same.

From what I've read this is not a positive development. Unlike Texas, Colorado is blue enough to elect somebody further left than Hickenlooper, who apparently is a stooge of the oil and gas industry. Hickenlooper also has come out against M4A.

Hickenlooper actually did a good job as governor in CO balancing one of the state’s emerging oil and gas sector with sensible environmental policies and regulation. Something both Democrats and Republicans could learn from.

I’m also not necessarily a fan of M4A. So I guess I’d be pretty happy with Hickenlooper in the senate.

The bad guys from land of the lost, duh.

Judging by Beto's recent comments, he definitely still thinks he's got a shot.

Hick should crush Gardner in the Senate race.
