I remember being pretty surprised when I found out "Black Magic Woman" was originally a Fleetwood Mac song. It's kind of crazy how much that band changed over the years, but I guess that's bound to happen with the only consistency is in the rhythm section while the leading creative figures and singers kept changing around them.

Made more famous by the Bobby Fuller Four and then even more famous by the Clash:
EDIT: I just saw the most recent song in the covers thread is another Clash cover. Weird coincidence.

Maybe not that much less famous than Nirvana's cover since Cobain was so open about his influences and since it's not one of Nirvana's more famous songs, but at least only famous because of the cover:
