Seriously, Whitney's version created the longest run at #1 on Billboard at the time, even though it was quickly overtaken in that department. And while the charts certainly don't mean much in terms of this, it is a testament to just how good that was. I'd say this song was also when we probably last saw her on top of her game.

She went more to film after The Bodyguard, too, and that's where the bulk of her music was. She had some good success on the R&B side, but she never was a pop star after that.
