Anybody remember when Lauryn Hill's That Thing beat Janis Joplin's Me and Bobby McGee in the best song thread a couple years ago? Would be quite amazing if those two (albeit with a different song for Hill) met again in the finals here.

Looking through the bracket - there were some good covers that had some unfortunate match-ups in the early rounds. I was thinking about compiling the losers from each round on summarizing my opinion of the top 25% that met an untimely match-up and/or deserved a longer run in the tournament. For example, Stairway to Heaven and Where did you sleep last night (or whatever that Nirvana cover is called) both deserved to make it out of the first round (IMO). So it would something like this:

Round 1
32 losers / Summarize top 8 that coulda/shoulda/woulda made it to the second round

round 2
16 losers / summarize top 4 losers

sweet 16
8 losers / 2 best losers

elite 8:
4 losers / best loser

But I haven't had time to pull it together. Would be curious to see what differences or consensus there are

Less than a day left, and Hallelujah has a good lead. Can Buckley eke out the win?

Congrats stlouie_lipp!

Mods, I think he deserves a custom rank. Or at the very least consider waiving his 2017 annual membership dues.

Congrats lipp and great job Swirls!

No better way to bid farewell to the Cover Song Tournament than with a cover.

Guys, we're all winners here. Some just more so than others.
