You will want to turn this off after you hear her sing "Oh."

The story behind it:

Dear parents--If you want your child to be a singer, have her listen to a lot more Sandy Denny and a lot less Christina Aguiliera.

I have said it before, but why do people do renditions of the Star Spangled Banner instead of the original? Maybe there is a 1% chance you come up with something unique, reverent and beautiful. But, there is a 99% chance you end up the butt end of jokes for the next week.

I agree. Often, simplest is best. Expressive singing is not the same as belting out a song. I think Henry James once said that the best singers often did not have the best voices, but knew how to use their voices to the best effect.

I hate her, I wish her pain and suffering.

In case you are one of the six people who haven't seen this. THIS is how it's done.

I got to "see" after "Oh say can you" before I had to turn it off. So many things wrong there.

I'm not a fan. I was always taught to not clap or hoop and holler out of respect during the anthem, and when he sings it that's all it is. To me, this is where the bar is set:

I know people like him, but it just sounds like shouting to me.

I agree ghost, I do NOT like his rendition at all. You look at Houston's rendition, and it was all about applying her talents to the anthem, not using the anthem to show off her talents.

I think Whitney did a fine job on the anthem. Certainly one of the best ever. I've just always preferred the anthem as a march.
