I don't get grief for political views, but I do get my fair share of jabs for being a Christian and not wanting to head to the east side with the guys.

I'm not Christian, but I think the east side is expensive and boring...don't let it get you down.crash2269 wrote:I don't get grief for political views, but I do get my fair share of jabs for being a Christian and not wanting to head to the east side with the guys.

The day after Obama was elected, at the residential youth care place where I was working we had an employee meeting where we stood in a circle holding hands and went around sharing what it meant to us (the circle wasn't formed to talk about Obama specifically, but I think two of us didn't). I hadn't voted for McCain, and don't picture myself voting republican or democrat for POTUS, and Obama winning was certainly more inspirational than the (only) alternative--I can see that--but the whole thing made me pretty squeamish.
Two days before ballots were due (they're mailed to us here) my coworker was pleading with me to vote for Obama. Downright begging me, for her, because she hadn't registered.
That was an interesting place to be working in the heat of Obamania.

Wow, no offense but that's all super lame. The day my boss tells me to hold hands with a co-worker, I'm going to tell him to go [expletive] himself.MrSaigon wrote:The day after Obama was elected, at the residential youth care place where I was working we had an employee meeting where we stood in a circle holding hands and went around sharing what it meant to us (the circle wasn't formed to talk about Obama specifically, but I think two of us didn't). It really has come to that, hasn't it? Civil discourse is dead.Hungary Jack wrote:Not quite. You would have to receive hate PMs to achieve that.Spider John wrote:So, it's like being a conservative on GRB?

Fruity as you like, but they were really good people. I enjoyed working with them. I definitely had to scratch my balls and watch Baywatch or Snipes movies to balance things out when I got home from work though.cards2468 wrote:Wow, no offense but that's all super lame. Maybe I'm in the minority but as much as I momentarily get aggravated with my opinion being in the minority on this board, literally every pm I've ever received concerning an issue has been respectful and even conciliatory. My private interactions with people on this board are extremely positive (even if they are all wrong and I am right.

I don't think the rancourous pm's characterize this place at all. In my case, it is just one angry fool in a sea of generally amicable people with constructive things to say.
