IIRC, it's about 630 miles from STL to DAL and 290 or so from STL to JOP.

So yeah, it's roughly halfway. The quickest I ever made it was 9 hrs, 15 mins.

Impressive! Even in my car , I think I would have trouble getting under 9 and 1/2
