I remember Brimley was like 20 years younger than his co-stars.
Also remember him being believably menacing in The Firm a few years later, and I wish he’d gotten more parts like that.
Also, Diabeehtus.

That Aquaman trailer looks terrible. And I can’t take this character seriously:
Really liked the Godzilla trailer, surprisingly.

black manta is a badass character. in theory, aquaman should be too. that said, i'm sure the movie won't be good

Was never a DC reader but I saw some panels from the comic, and it looks much better there. Think they should have made the head a bit smaller for the movie.Jocephus wrote:black manta is a badass character. in theory, aquaman should be too. that said, i'm sure the movie won't be good

Re: movies
parts of the aquaman trailer don't look good. i assume it's not going to be very good but maybe. momoa looks great as aquaman but i dunno...i just assume DC will mess it up.
there was also a shazam! trailer that might be ok. the light from the bolt on his chest seems way too bright to me. maybe this one will have a sense of humor and not be all brooding and dark like it seems DC usually goes for.

Re: movies
Seems like DC is always getting slammed before their movies even get a breath of air; and Marvel is always getting positive press. There must be a conspiracy!

Re: movies
Sorry To Bother You, a very small movie by Boots Riley with Lakeith Stanfield (who is remarkable on Atlanta), Armie Hammer, Danny Glover, Tessa Thompson (Charlotte on Westworld) is very good. Incredibly unique, the filmmaker follows his interests and what he finds funny rather than painting by the numbers. It's a lot like the first time you saw Being John Malkovich or Eternal Sunshine, just really weird and out there and funny and interesting all the way through, and the narrative takes a hard left about 2/3 of the way through the movie where it goes from being one thing to being something else altogether. It's really great.
