Have we mentioned that the kids that appear at the end of "Inception" are played by different actors than the ones in prior scenes?

The remake of Total Recall is getting some pretty solidly crappy reviews. 13% positive right now on RT, which is really, really bad for a 200 million dollar movie. I expect it to have a nice opening week, maybe 70 million, then drop off very quickly. Or, hey, maybe moviegoers will continue to pay for crappy remakes, and Hollywood will keep squeezing them out.

I saw that, but didn't put much stock in it.

Until that point, whenever the kids were present, Cobb never saw their faces. He even would turn away to avoid seeing them. So, the fact he didn't turn away that time bolsters the case that Cobb had decided to accept this as reality at the end. But it's still a bit flimsy to say that it means it actually "was" reality.

For shizz and giggles I dropped by G4 for a few minutes of Batman Forever. I was shocked to hear a Flaming Lips song.

There has been a fair amount of buzz, from the kinds of people who talk about this kind of crap, that Bill Murray might be an Oscar contender for playing FDR in a movie.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1477855/

But that's not what inspires me to make the post. What draws my attention is the fact that Olivia Williams is playing Eleanor Roosevelt. Just to clarify, this woman

is cast in a motion picture as this woman

To be fair, Eleanor was better looking in her youth,

tall and curvy if you could get past the horse teeth, but goddamn, that movie is set in 1939.

I just saw this today. "Jaws" in a theater. I am so stoked.

The Total Recall remake looks like a bomb. Serves them right. If you are going to trot out old crap, you at least need to put a new slant on it. The criticisms I've read say it is like a scene for scene remake.

I just watched the Last Goodbye, the one with Eliot Gould from 1973. It's an interesting (though I feel non-canonical) take on Marlowe. But then, I don't like any take on Marlowe that sets him as the main character, since he's clearly not in any of the novels and short stories but more of an omnipotent narrator.

But back to the movie. There's a young Arnold Schwarzeneger in it which was a surprise, and I think I saw Sally Field, though the credits were incomplete on that. Worth a watch if you're like me and enjoy detective movies, especially homages to noir and pulp.
