We're talking about Mickey's and Olympia though not a coffee stout.

Oh I know, and I agree with planet's rant for that bar in particular. It's been too long since I've been there to remember beer temperature.

I've been to Friendly's a couple of times recently. During the week it's an OK place to drink for incredibly cheap and they have specials during Blues/Cards/Rams games, but on a Saturday it wasn't worth it. 30 minutes to get a drink from the bar.

I finally made it to Friendly's. You can eat and drink for incredibly cheap. $9 for a bucket (a full 6 pack there) of PBR's during games? You can't beat that. You also can't beat having a hot dog, brat, hamburger, AND nachos for $4 combined. Plenty of bar games, which I enjoy. It would rank highly on Waxed Paper Cup's spreadsheet.

I'm not sure how much I like it as a venue for watching sports though. I prefer a few very large screens scattered about on different walls. I'm not a fan of a full wall of medium-sized screens, all tuned to different games. Too disorienting. That's just me being picky.

That's not just you. Leatherbottoms and I met planet, the waxed cup and a few others down there over the winter. That wall is ADD hell. It's extremely hard to focus on any single tv. The "we don't take plastic" thing bugs me, as well.

But the patio is pretty nice. I can imagine it'd get a little overwhelming in there later at night.

I can't handle those TVs either. The time I went up there and enjoyed myself it was pretty empty and we just sat up by the bar and watched the Blues game there. Drank for a couple of hours and spent maybe $15.

This is the most important part. I'm not sure there is a better drinking value in StL than Friendly's during a game.

Or eating for that matter. My hot dog was pretty damn good for $1.

Not wading through all the posts but is Friendly's the southside bar on Rogers & Potomac? (I think)

I know the previous owner who now owns the Iron Horse on S. Broadway. She also managed Bailey Brothers on S. Grand.

Is there still a bartender at Friendly's named Mike Green? His dad was the guy on base when Stan Musial got his 3000th hit.

I was hitting up The Mack during the Mizzou games and NCAA tournament. I was shocked at how cheap it was to drink there.

Then again, maybe I'm just not used to having to buy non-Fancy Beer.
