Well, Seinfeld is off the hook for having the worst series finale in my lifetime now.

I've decided that I actually like the eunuch in Game of Thrones. I'm going to have to pay enough attention to remember what his name is next time.

Rip eastbound and down. Series finale was meh but the third season as a whole was great.

That was one of the better "Mad Men" episodes I've ever seen, and not just because of the three (three!) match cuts.

Varys is one of the best characters in the books as well. So far I think they've done a good job with him.

Just finished season 1 last night. It was very good. Really stuck to the book. Since they're cramming so much book into such a short series of episodes, I thought they would ignore minor characters who end up with important roles at critical times in the plot... Janos Slynt is a good example. Yoren, too, though I guess he's necessary for book 2. I wonder how hard it would be for someone to follow the entire plot of the shows without reading the books, but having read the books, I found season 1 to be very satisfying, very accurate, and very well cast.

Last night was the first time they substantially deviated from the books.
Spoiler: show
I realize it would be kind of tedious to introduce such a minor character as Lollys Stokeworth just to place Shae as her maid, but they could have simply referred to her without ever introducing her. I really don't like that they put Shae with Sansa. The whole point of Tyrion giving Shae the job is to keep her away from Cersei, and Sansa is around Cersei all the time. That whole scene was stupid and unnecessary.

Also, they're really going overboard with the Knight of the Flowers and Renly's gay relationship. You would barely know that it exists in the book unless you really read closely and looked for subtle hints (which are great now that the show has made it so explicitly clear). Margaery suggesting that Loras join Renly and her in the sack is taking it a little too far, though. I cringed when she suggested he do her from behind so it would remind him of Loras.

Last night's episode was really outstanding, though. I loved the way they handled the betrayal scene when Tyrion tells Pycelle, Varys, and Littlefinger about his plan to marry off Myrcella.

I don't know if I should read that spoiler because it's a show spoiler for something that's already happened, or I shouldn't read it because it's a book spoiler that may spoil future stuff on the show.

I would make a special note if it was a book spoiler. Feel safe in opening it.
