The new Lana Del Ray album is pretty great. She had me from the opening line--a purred "God Damn, man child / you [expletive] me so good that I almost said 'I love you"--all kept me all the way through.

I always liked her voice, and some of the tunes are pretty damn catchy, but do her lyrics still sound like they were written by a 14-year-old trying to shock her parents? If the quoted line is any indication, I'm guessing yes.

I think she's the badass that every weird girl who is way too into Lizzo thinks she is.

Daniel Johnston died. I'm in a heavy Mountain Goats phase, which I strongly suggest, and I literally looked into this guy two days before he died (though there must have been a few near misses for me to know him, I'd guess--I spend time in that lane). It's really great to read tributes on social media and elsewhere when artists die these days. Really inspiring and comforting.

I highly recommend the documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston, if anyone wants to learn more.
