Persecution for speaking out is not uncommon in country music, but Gill — Grand Ole Opry member, Time Jumper, occasional Eagle, Hall of Famer, Grammy winner — decided that now was no time to resist singing about matters that drive the world around us. Okie, out last Friday, is a public clearing of Gill’s conscience, a platform for discussion, and a celebration of love and devotion. Gill tackles sexual abuse, teenage pregnancy, race, and our incessant desire to be right with emotional fortitude but without judgment.
That was a great article. He seems like a genuinely good guy and he's obviously supremely talented.
Oh man. As a kid he opened for KISS and it was a disaster. It's a hilarious story, and Vince comes out pretty badass. In the 'Are you sure Hank done it this way?' episode of Ken Burns new country doc. That's also the Waylon episode so you'll want to watch it anyway.

A few listens into the new Wilco album, and I'm digging it. It's the most dad-rockin' dad rock that ever dad-rocked, but it's good stuff, and grabs me more than Schmilco and Star Wars.

I am liking the Wilco album. I never album- listened to them before. Seems like it has a common strain with songs on this one (if heard them all, spotify is kind of random)
Spotifying the new Sturgill Simpson, just a few songs so far. He pushing his boundaries even more. Will take me time to render my opinion

It's growing on me. Takes a few more songs to get going than I'd like (the first three songs are kind of the same), but I'm digging it.Freed Roger wrote:I am liking the Wilco album. I should listen to the new Wilco, I've ignored their more recent albums for no good reason. I recently re-listened to Summerteeth and it's almost overwhelming how [expletive] great that album is. Just a devastating gut punch of an album.
