How was it? Amanda Shire was surely in the band, right?
I was not there but she was indeed based on their instagrams.

Yeah, Summerteeth is great. It's a little Pro Toolsy/overcooked sounding after Being There (which is my favorite Wilco album), but I really don't understand why it didn't grab hold of me when it came out. I blame the late nineties and early aughts for messing with all of our auditory palates.

Also, I think it's crazy that they had the song list set, and the A&R people wanted a single, so they went back and made Can't Stand It (a great song) and slapped it on the front. I can't imagine it opening with She's a Jar. I think that change alone would make it feel like a different album.

As for the new album, I've said I like it more than the last few for some reason, but I can't say why exactly, because listening back to those, it seems sonically similar. The drum/percussion sound really pulls you in on Ode, and there are quite a few melodies I find myself coming back to when the iPod in my brain is searching for a tune, which is usually a good sign that an album has burrowed its way in.

She was indeed. That band absolutely rocks live. Wish I could go back and see tonight’s show.
