There's so much WTF going on with this case. If you are some gung ho neighborhood watch guy shouldn't you know who actually lives in the neighborhood? This kid was killed right by his house. And I have no idea why anyone would feel like they can police their neighborhood so aggressively with no legal authority and no crime in progress.

Even worse, I've never heard of cops simply accepting someone's claim of self defense at face value without performing a thorough investigation to confirm the circumstances.



Seriously? You just take the guy's word for it? It should be a lot harder than that to kill an unarmed person and get away with it. Was the kid going to beat him to death with his bare hands?

I'm not so sure the law is as flawed as the PD and Zimmerman here.

If they do a full work up and investigation and determine that Zimmerman was the agressor and shot and killed Martin because Martin stood his ground and he doesn't get charged, then, yes, there should be outrage over the law. However, that's not what the law says.

The anger should be directed at the PD/Zimmerman here, imo, for not upholding the laws. Not some law that doesn't even allow Zimmerman to do what he apparently did.

Is there any criminal charges that individuals from the Sanford PD could be brought up on in this case? I mean, this is blatant negligence on their part. If you're mugged (you know, where the other individual is actually committing a crime) and then the attacker turns to run away from you, if you shoot and kill them then, that's manslaughter. Not only was Martin obeying the law, but he was essentially hunted by the crazed gunman. How the hell could a police officer justify that no further action is required?
