it is possible no one would win but my estimate is they will sell a billion tickets so someone should win

Do the tickets sold today roll into the next pot?

Nope, this one. I bet by the time the drawing comes around it'll be $700 million

Well this morning the pot started at 540 mil so I believe everything sold up until tonight gets thrown into tonight's pot.

If someone wins the pot goes to 12 million for next time. If no one wins, it should hit a billion.

The previous jackpot was $435 million - I believe they give half of the revenue to schools, keep 10% for overhead, and split the other 40% between jackpot and consolation prizes, so for the jackpot to rise over $200 million indicates to me a billion tickets were sold.

I bought 10 bucks worth - on Tuesday the five I bought were the first lotto tickets id ever bought. Win or no, todays will most likely be the last. I want one of three things to happen, in order of preference:

1. I win
2. One of my family or friends or even a vague acquiatance wins
3. No one wins, just to see the jackpot grow insanely high

If someone does win, I hope its a sweet old granny or lucky college kid. Not some group of lawyers (no offense, lawyers!) Or some trashy toothless wonder.

If you have 5 numbers but not the mega number, in most states you win $250,000 but in California it is a separate pot split pari-mutuel, about 1% of the jackpot. If no one wins it rolls over- so if no one has 5 numbers today, the next time it would be around $6,120,000 with the grand prize $12 million (if someone wins the jackpot).

I hope Albert Pujols wins.

I don't want it to be an octogenarian winning. Hit the jackpot and die within five years.

I went to buy my ticket and, like Missouri, you can't buy lottery tickets with a debit card unless you buy it on the black market (some Indian guy). So, I had to use the single dollar I've been carrying around for the past year and a half on my money clip.

There's no reason behind not spending it--there's just not a whole lot in this world you can buy with a dollar. I guess I could have just given it away to a bum, but then again I don't come across any bums where I live. I guess maybe if I win I'll give some to charity. If I lose I'm gonna be really disappointed I wasted my lucky dollar.
