My boss's boss is a woman, and she's damn impressive. Very sharp, and terrifying. As long as you're on her good side, she'll make good things happen for you, but the instant you piss her off, you're done for good. Fortunately she really likes me, but it does seem like all the women that I work with are threatened by her and that she doesn't like them. I did work with 1 lady who was hired last year, and fired less than a year from starting because my boss's boss didn't like her all that much. There's another lady (I have a hard time calling her a lady since we hang out and she seems like just one of the guys), and she's been targeted by boss lady as well. I've heard various stories about altercations between the two, I don't know what's true though, but I do know that at work they hand out awards every now and then. Even I have received an award. The lady I work with has been here about 4 years longer than I have and I think she does pretty great work. She's also in charge of all sorts of fund raisers for our team and stuff like that, yet she's never received an award. It just seems like there's somebody that doesn't want her to be given an award.

One thing I really like about the field I'm in is that in the realm of engineering it doesn't seem like sexism exists. Perhaps we're all just too socially retarded to engage in any sort of mistreatment of individuals, but some of the best engineers I work with are women, and they definitely command respect from everybody else we work with. When I get involved in management, however, I can definitely see the sexism going both directions. The facility I work at has a woman in charge of a division of management, and in the 3 years I've been here, she's never hired a man... but it's strange, she hires only women, and then seems to oppress them, as if she needs to surround herself with women just so she can be alpha female in the group.

Interesting thing about Ashley Judd: she and my mom both spoke at Rupp Arena (UK) as part of a speaker's tour for self-improvement for women. My mom has written 4 books on the subject and spent a good portion of her career working to improve the political climate for women in Kentucky.

Fatherly. Ruled by fathers. Or, more broadly, male-dominated or -controlled.

I prefer "patricidal"

Women that are smart, accomplished, take care of themselves physically and emotionally, and have a humble sense of self-respect are sexy, and always will be.

A bombshell who looks good in a thong but lacking in the aforementioned areas will be sexy for as long either 1) you really get to know her, or 2) another bombshell comes along to divert your attention. Point is, it won't last if the sexiness stops at the bikini line.

That sums it up perfectly.

My wife has worked for men and women, and she says a woman boss is more difficult to deal with.

I work in the automotive manufacturing business, and part of my duties include customer service. I find that a in general the women in management postions are much more combative than their male counterparts. I guess some of that is they feel the need to prove that they are as hard-nosed as the men in those jobs. Part of the issues I have with them may be a bit of a male chauvinism ingrained in me that resents strong women (I'd like to think that's not the case), but I also notice that the worst of these seem to burn themselves out within fellow employees within their companies, and soon are demoted or working somewhere else.
