Siri

Post by go birds »

Like it? Hate it? Don't have an iPhone?

The 4s was my first iPhone. I didn't buy it because of siri, but i was intrigued by it.

Well, the truth is Siri sucks. I'll give an example:

Yesterday my gf and I were headed to get coffee and we were complaining that there wasn't a dunkins nearby, so I posed the question of how much franchise fees for DDs were.

"Siri, what are the franchise fees for dunkin donuts?"
"there are 3 dunkin donuts fairly close to you"
"franchise fees, dunkin donuts"
"there are 3 dunkin donuts fairly close to you"
"Siri search the goddamn web for franchise fees for dunkin donuts"
"searching the web......"

This is basically how it goes for any requests. Another example is that I repeatedly tried to find out where the Nike headquarters was located and it kept telling me the closest places I could buy Nike shoes.

Im not the only person who think Siri is a load of crap:

Siri was listening the entire time, and just wanted to give you the answer you were really looking for.

Siri is a flashy but half-assed implementation of something Android has had for years. And yet people frequently cite it as the reason they chose iPhone over Android.

To answer your question, you have to do 5 at a time, I believe. They're doing it in Little Rock now. You have to have a pretty large net worth and I think around half of it has to be cash reserves.

Okay...just googled it for you because now I'm curious. It's open 5 restaurants, be worht 1.5 mil and have 750K cash. Get to it gobirds!

The creepy set of commercials with that bald actor recently make me never want to have an iphone or Siri.

Those commercials are the best thing Apple has created in five years.

Yeah, Siri is worthless. There's pretty much nothing she does that I can't do myself in less time. Sometimes I want to send a text to someone, and she just goes with her default action of googling their name instead. Siri is a talking "let me google that for you."

Basically, I never use it.

What is excellent about the 4s is the voice recognition software for texts and emails. It's pretty damned good, and doesn't require a ton of correction. So particularly if you have to send a work email or longer text, it saves a lot of time.

Yep. And I agree on the voice recognition for texts and emails. Use that all the time.
