Happy Father's Day

Post by JackofDiamonds »

I hope your kids call/give you attention, then leave you alone for the rest of the day.

Daughter called just before mom drove her to camp for the week so that was nice.

Being a dad is probably the best damn thing that ever happened to me.

I was out standing in a river waving a stick this morning in a town that has a very high end hotel/restaurant right on the river, and in the courtyard I saw the most miserable looking men dressed in clothes that I would maybe wear to a funeral. I know what the food is like in there too, it's the fancy stuff that gives you the [expletive] and makes you feel awful all day. Once I saw a family of four and I overheard the mother saying to her kids, always looking for a teaching moment, "Look kids, that man is fishing.". I looked up and although it was at some distance, thought I made eye contact with the man. I'm pretty sure I also saw his eyes dart sheepishly away, to ashamed to let the world see the lowly state that he had let himself fall to on this day.

I hope everyone got to do something they wanted to do today.

She called to wish me a Happy Father's Day and also to give thanks that she hasn't yet encountered JoD's coalition.

I'm pretty sure all the dads on here are awesome from everything I've read over the last seven years. So congrats on raising amazing kids and take pride in a job well done.
