Did you know that The Captain's last name was Dragon? Wtf? Why wouldn't you use that badass name? Anyway, I'm guessing Eddie Money's last name wasn't appealing.

RIP, Eddie Boogerlowski.

Something I know for sure: His birth name was Edward Mahoney.

Something I don't know for sure: Whether he used Money as a stage name or if he had his last name legally changed.

Another fun fact: He spent 2 years as a cop before trying to be a full-time musician.

Party pooper fact: Eddie Mahoney never made it out of recruit school thus never a cop. I think his Dad was.

That's not what this article led me to believe:

Quote:
Born Edward Joseph Mahoney in Brooklyn on March 21, 1949, Money grew up in Long Island and came from a long line of police officers. He was a member himself of the NYPD for two years, before moving to Northern California in 1968 to pursue his true dream of becoming a rock star.

The NYPD clarified to CNN on Saturday that Money served as a trainee, but never officially became an officer.

Never even made it to the Academy
