The original air date of the "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" episode of The Simpsons was closer to the Beatles rooftop concert it parodied than to the present day.

Spoiler: show
The rooftop concert was on January 30, 1969 and the air date was September 30, 1993 for a time gap of 9009 days. The time gap between the air date and the date of this post (January 30, 2019) is 9253 days.

Nevermind is older than Kurt Cobain was when he died.

This is a thing that sounds false but is maybe, but not definitely, true.

NPR had a story this morning about the history of blackface in America, which of course traces to minstrel shows and vaudeville. Most people probably know of Al Jolson, the singer/actor from the early 20th century, and whose act was entirely blackface and rooted in those minstrel shows.

So NPR's expert asserted that it's commonly known (but never acknowledged) that Mickey Mouse was basically inspired by Al Jolson and blackface performances. Of course Disney would deny this. But allegedly the facial features, colors, and white gloves on Mickey were rooted in this practice. Pretty weird to think about, but you know, as the song says, this is America.

If Tiger doesn’t win a major by the US Open this year, more time will have passed since he last won one than between Jack’s last major win and Tiger’s first.
