Cutting cable / Sling.TV
I'm about to move into an apartment, and the building only allows Charter. I think, I've looked at so much paperwork my eyes are bent. Anyway, the cost of internet and cable together is a bit on the pricey side, so I was thinking about getting a sling.tv subscription. $20 a month, the most popular cable channels.

I haven't tried Sling.tv but I've built a Raspberry Pi with super sweet remote and case for $80 (one-time fee) and haven't missed a thing yet. If you go the route I did (I have Charter cable as well), install Exodus, SALTS (Stream All The Sources), TRAKT, Pro Sport, and Phoenix and you're pretty much good to go as far as anything you want to watch..... ever, and that includes Cardinal baseball and Blues hockey.

For the record, I have a very picky 6-year old daughter who only watches what she wants to and I haven't found anything yet she can't find with the Raspberry Pi. That includes any movies and TV shows. Ever.... even new ones at the box office.

I've happily used Kodi for many years, but perhaps my reticence to go this route with it is based on how many things are blocked in the UK. Now I'm in the US, perhaps it'll be easier. I do love a Raspberry Pi, too, so...maybe time to look into getting one of the new ones (I had a 2nd gen one which I used to mess about with last year, but I gave it away before I left).

Glad you brought this up because I had a friend hack my firestick a couple weeks ago and there is literally not a damn thing you can think of and not watch on this. All for free. Actually, I take that back, had trouble finding WWF stuff. But, movies, movies currently in theaters that aren't ripped versions, sports, live sports, porn, TV shows, netflix shows, amazon shows, live TV, HBO shows, etc etc etc. It's all there. Mind bottling.

Re: Cutting cable / Sling.TV
Very timely. I knew there was an older thread talking about sling, and I logged in just to find that thread.
I know I tried Sling previously, but I had trouble with live sports. it would get bogged down and have to refresh. No troubles with anything except sports. Has sling gotten better for live sports? Any trouble with streaming the live sports through Raspberry Pi?
Could have been my internet or my Roku box holding things up, too.

I could never find the MLB Network or FSMW on Kodi, which is part of the reason I was thinking of paying for a proper service, but if there's a way, I'm in.

Can you get FSN Midwest with Google Firestick? Right now I just have an HD antenna for the networks and the stream Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus and Youtube.

No idea if this is how to do it. I did not watch the video below nor did I watch the guy install it. All I know is Titanium is the app and exodus is part of the movie/tv shows. Live TV and sports is the same app but I can't think fo the name off the top of my head.go birds wrote:AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:Glad you brought this up because I had a friend hack my firestick a couple weeks ago and there is literally not a damn thing you can think of and not watch on this.
