Re: Driving

Post by heyzeus »

I drove myself to and from driver's ed every day. Legally!

When I was 16 we moved to Texas. My parents taught me how to drive in St Louis and I passed the test and got my license. But my Missouri license would soon expire in Texas, and in order to get a Texas license at that time, the law required everyone under 18 to take a behind the wheel driver's ed course. Because that was not a requirement in Missouri, I had never done so.

I was pissed that I had to move to Texas in the first place, and even more pissed to be spend my summer in driver's ed despite already having a license (albeit one set to expire in a month). So I drove to driver's ed each morning, sat through boring classes, and sleepwalked through the behind the wheel stuff.

One day one of the instructors saw me drive up to their office and park my car. He said "uhhhhh are you supposed to be doing that?" I said "Yeah, it's a long story."
