Hurricane Harvey
This thing was a tropical storm yesterday. Then BOOM goes the dynamite and its now expected to hit the Texas coast as at least a Cat 3 major hurricane. Then, just for fun, stick around for 4-6 days of torrential rain.
Dark clouds are rollin' in.
Y'all be safe down there.

Re: Hurricane Harvey
Last night the forecast was tropical storm at landfall, now NWS is predicting a category 4 hurricane. Yipes.
Here's the rainfall forecast from one of the models. Austin is in the 16-24" range.

My daughter lives in Houston. Her and my son in law are packing up the family and coming up to stay with us in Iowa until it is over. I will take snow and cold over having my house washed away. I swear that a light rain in Houston is 1" in an hour.

Re: Hurricane Harvey
I hadn't noticed its going to stay in basically the same place for 2.5 days as a hurricane and tropical storm. I can't imagine.
Hope they have enough time to get everybody away from there.

Re: Hurricane Harvey
I've been unable to convince my brother to bring his family, who live just west of Houston, up to Austin. They're looking at 20-40 inches of rain in the next few days which is tough to wrap your head around.sparks wrote:My daughter lives in Houston.
