Hurricane Harvey

Post by Joe Shlabotnik »

This thing was a tropical storm yesterday. Then BOOM goes the dynamite and its now expected to hit the Texas coast as at least a Cat 3 major hurricane. Then, just for fun, stick around for 4-6 days of torrential rain.

Dark clouds are rollin' in.

Y'all be safe down there.

Last night the forecast was tropical storm at landfall, now NWS is predicting a category 4 hurricane. Yipes.

Here's the rainfall forecast from one of the models. Austin is in the 16-24" range.

My daughter lives in Houston. Her and my son in law are packing up the family and coming up to stay with us in Iowa until it is over. I will take snow and cold over having my house washed away. I swear that a light rain in Houston is 1" in an hour.

I hadn't noticed its going to stay in basically the same place for 2.5 days as a hurricane and tropical storm. I can't imagine.

Hope they have enough time to get everybody away from there.

I've been unable to convince my brother to bring his family, who live just west of Houston, up to Austin. They're looking at 20-40 inches of rain in the next few days which is tough to wrap your head around.

Which man's name that starts with H would you prefer? I like Hurricane Horace... or Hurricane Helms.
