Correction: I think I meant left. My brother is just up the coast from Wilmington in the Hampstead/Topsail area. He happens to be gone for some training, but his house is probably in trouble. As someone who has evacuated during hurricanes, I can tell you it is very expensive and maybe people who stay can't afford gas, hotel, food for multiple days and hundreds of miles.
