I didn't win, because Mrs. Wart is still angry, and when she is angry at someone, she tends to have a very short fuse with me. There is a lesson to be learned here.
When people that don't approve of an occasional alcoholic beverage decide to visit your home for an extended stay, answer the door with a beer in your hand. That way they either have to accept it or they leave and you don't lose a few days of enjoying an after work cocktail.
