cancer

Post by tscards »

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of days ago. Emotional rollercoaster already!! Fortunately caught early & the most common form. We've got a surgery date for mid Nov already scheduled & are very hopefull all can be taken care of, but man this is a tough thing to deal with. Sucks that she's only 40 as well, and statistically this is something that 1 in 8 or so get much later in life!

I hate cancer & now the walks/fundraisers.... to support ongoing treatment and detection of breast cancer means so much more to me.

Good luck tscards. My mom had a similar situation about 6 years ago - they caught it early, removed it, and did radiation, and she's been in great health since. The docs do great things. We're with you.

Damn. This happens way too much - people in my family.

Good luck to you and your wife. As heyzeus said, brave people have battled thru this with the help of docs. They are making progress in treating.

My mom was diagnosed with BC when I was 13. They did the whole shebang and she's had no reoccurances. While the treatment is still primitive (realtively, I mean, I think the common educated person 200 years from now will look at our 'cures' for cancer - nuking the body with radiation - as Medieval ) they can do wonders for this stuff if its the early stages. I bet she'll be just fine.

+1
Ladies, get those mammograms. Men, encourage your wives, g/f and s/o to have this done.
