“So rightly I am watching these mountains that I know, the storm getting colder in the place of the frozen sun.”
Those are lyrics from pioneering black metal band Immortal’s “Mountains of Might,” but they may also serve as a manifesto for the cat that’s apparently been shepherding injured hikers to safety in the Swiss Alps for years now.
The hiker, a Hungarian man, said he sprained his ankle while walking in the mountains near Gimmelwald, Switzerland. The route he’d intended to take back was blocked, but a black and white cat showed up while he was resting and pondering his situation and guided him back to safety.
“[The cat] was just wandering around, [then] found me while I was resting from a hike,” he said. “Then she was walking and kept looking at me to follow [and] led me straight to the path that would take me back down to the valley.”

Re: Cats
Our 19 year old cat passed away yesterday. My girls have only known a world with her in it, so they are very upset. She was a great cat, slept in my bed just about every night for the past 19 years. The girls are devastated, Stinky was almost inconsolable last night.
She stopped eating Friday and passed peacefully with all of us around her yesterday afternoon.

Re: Cats
The longest I have ever had a cat live. We had one when I was growing up who made it to 17. She had a great life, Stinky was carrying her all over on Saturday, staying right by her side, trying to get her to eat and drink. She went from healthy, if a bit skinny from old age 2 weeks ago to gone yesterday. But 19 is a long. long time for a cat. The other cat is 16, but still as healthy as can be. Stinky wants a kitten for her 10th birthday on Saturday, but Mrs. Wart doesn't. I am pretty sure I will be getting a cat for the girls for Christmas, let Mrs. Wart be pissed at me, she usually is...GeddyWrox wrote:Sorry Wart. 19 years is a great life. I know that doesn't make it easier for your mini-Warts though.
