Bidets

Post by ghostrunner »

I just realized we don’t have a thread on this. Now we do. Bidets are great. Let’s discuss.

I’ve installed 3 of the ones you install under your toilet seat. One I replaced because I have 2 boys and the design on the old one was a magnet for #1 backsplash apparently.

Anyway, Pros:

Less toilet paper, used mostly to dry off
Cleaner butt

Cons:

Stream of very cold water on your butt, especially in wintertime
You can accidentally turn it on too high, which is um, alarming

How do you feel about the electrical cord to plug in the bidet? Without having a new outlet put in, it seems likely to be quite awkward in many bathrooms.

Mine don’t use any electricity. You just hook them up to the plumbing. There’s an extension piece that you connect between the tank and the incoming cold water and then a line running off of that to the bidet.

Time was you could post a thread involving poop related mechanisms and get some childish reactions around here. There should be 2-3 jokes at my expense by now. SMH.

If you're looking for immature commentary, can I suggest the thread where Trump and Obama are the same person?

A Toto Washlet toilet seat came with our current house (with separate outlet installed). Really saves on TP and helped us weather the Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020.

Wait, so you can get a bidet in your toilet? How do you not [expletive] on it?

It's a kind of L shaped piece you install under the seat. Take the seat off, there's a long portion that goes across the back where the bolts are and then a box shape with a control wheel that sits off to the side of the seat. The water jet sits at the far back of the bowl and shoots up at an angle. I will say the first one I had shot out the front a bit if you turned it on too high. I sprayed myself a couple times installing it the first time. I was testing it and it's easy to underestimate how hard the spray is at full blast.

The replacement I got is the one on top. Skinnier and less in the way than the old one, which is in the second pic but it shows how it's installed. The new one also cleans itself every time it's used. The old one you had to turn the knob the other way to clean it. Instead of shooting a jet of water it sort of just shoots water over itself.

Sounds French, so it is obviously stupid.
