i know people who will vote her. and they are true-believer Republicans. some of them are pretty bright humans too. it amazes me that they take her seriously as a political cadidate and can see in her what they think it takes to lead a great nation. but maybe that's not what they are really thinking about when they think about voting. maybe electing a candidate is more self-centered in the modern era.

Yeah, I don't know where the belief that she has no true followers is coming from. True, I doubt most young guys in their 20s or early 30s know many people that think she's not a freak but in central Illinois...if you're in your 40s and 50s and grew up in a conservative little downstate town, I'd almost wager you're a Republican and, quite likely, open to the idea of Palin as the next President. I don't know what kind of weight that carries nationwide, but due to her being in the "news" almost non-stop, I'd again wager that she's one of the GOP's most viable candidates.

I get the feeling that Bachmann is the end of Palin as a serious political contender. She's like the same, only able to formulate a coherent string of thoughts. She also didn't quit her job halfway through.

I'm 42 and live in a small Mid-MO town and only know one person who likes her...my 70 year old Mom who has never voted in her life, and isn't going start voting now. I'm not going to say she doesn't have some supporters, she obviously does, but not a the huge following that some are implying. Getting big checks for speaking engagements doesn't translate into votes IMO.

After watching portions of the Republican debate last night, I'm starting to think that maybe she does hold her own within the primary.

That might actually be good, but man am I uncomfortable putting words in people's mouths like that. Especially when it's just 4 years ago. And of course this just kicks her back in the spotlight again.

So who all has seen Game Change? I caught the last hour or so last week. Not sure how much of it I believe. I can believe she was that unprepared, but have a hard time believing she was that vain. And they painted McCain as a much more sympathetic character than I think he likely was.
