What a great organization to be a fan of right now. We just won our 11th world championship and 2nd in 5 years, keeping us the most successful franchise in the history of the senior circuit. Think of the names that have characterized this franchise over the decades:

Hornsby
Musial
Gibson
Brock
Smith
Edmonds
Pujols

Our HOF manager just retired, and our franchise icon left for greener pastures after an incredible run here, yet it looks like we haven't missed a beat. Granted, the 2012 version is veteran club, putting it kindly, as our top players are all into their 30s, but our farm system looks very good some of our younger ML regulars appear to be emerging.

This club is on a 12-year roll with few signs of slowing down. It's awesome.

Kyle Lohse has the second lowest ERA in the NL. (Westbrook is tied for 5th, Lynn tied for 9th).

Tim Lincecum has the highest.

Edmonds was my favorite player until Pujols had clearly surpassed him, but McGwire was clearly the franchise icon before Pujols.

It still irks me that we were swept in the 2004 World Series because the Cardinals had inferior hotel accomodations that involved sandwiches after the games and no fried chicken or beer. We were jobbed in 1985 but were fortunate in 1982 that Rollie Fingers was injured.

Motte was toast when Brenly pointed out that Motte had never ever given up a run vs. the Cubs in 24 previous appearances against them. Then Joeybombs delivered on the prophesy.

They mentioned on a broadcast the other day that the Cardinals have more RBI's from players under 30 this year than every other club except 1.
