It sucks living away from family.

1. You miss them and don't get to see them as often as you like.
2. You have to use a good amount of vacation days to go see them.
3. When you do see them, usually you're staying at their place or they're staying at your place for an extended stay.
4. It's usually expensive to visit.
5. You end up spending a ton more time (than you would if your family was in town) at your in-laws/SO's family gatherings.

But if you want to look at it differently, you can't measure the construction of a team by one offseason. For a team like the Cardinals, you measure it over several years of player development. And right now, those dividends are paying off like a mofo.

6. And after all the vacation used and money spent, 10 minutes after you are there you remembered why you left.

I love visiting the wife’s family, the fights they get in to are epic. My family is so laid back and easy, it is like polar extremes on the visits. Everyone in my wife’s family is always right, all the time, and if you don’t agree with them, you are stupid. My family respects other people’s opinions, and will go out of the way to not have an argument; my wife’s family looks for an argument. This trip is going to be a blast.

A lot of the Romanian Pentecostal families I have met are very similar. Her cousins who live here in Phx are the same. They also love to quote the bible, except that part about not judging; they are all about the judging.

It's the last thing you will see before the sippy cup penetrates your skull.
