A lot of people feel that way. More guests tell me they don't like gin than any other spirit category.
Second is probably tequila, and it's usually because they had a terrible experience or series of experiences with drinking too much tequila when they were young.

Tequila is great until you wake up on the wrong side of a border with no clothes and no identification....still not allowed back in Canada.

Put your vermouth in a spray bottle (same thing works with absinthe in a Sazerac etc) and you won't have to pour it down the sink.pop_haines wrote:Sapphire man here.
Pour some vermouth in a glass, swirl it, and then pour the whole mess down the sink.
Shake some gin with some crushed ice, pour in glass. Bomb an olive.
voilà: perfect martini.

Just a fun note on Navy Strength, that means that the proof is high enough that if you spill it on gunpowder it will still ignite.

Have you tried the tonic syrup from Pinckney Bend Distillery in New Haven? I'm a big fan.33anda3rd wrote:If you drink gin and tonics the biggest question isn’t the gin but the tonic. Those high fructose corn syrup ones are garbage and it’s crazy to put that stuff over a lovely distilled spirit. Get Fever Tree or
Fentiman’s. I have to run but will post some gin thoughts later.

I like negronis too.
I now order gin wherever I go. Currently drinking some Hendricks now. In Aruba I found that Bombay is quite popular.

Save a little here and there and make yourself an Algonquin.pop_haines wrote:Ah, very clever.haltz wrote:Put your vermouth in a spray bottle (same thing works with absinthe in a Sazerac etc) and you won't have to pour it down the sink.pop_haines wrote:Sapphire man here.

But it's vermouth, you'll have that original bottle for at least 10 years, I promise.
2 ounce rye whiskey
1 ounce dry vermouth
1 ounce pineapple juice
With the first two ingredients you'll be on your way to a Scofflaw and a Brooklyn cocktail as well.
