Mizzou Recruiting 2011

[expletive]. Durron Neal chose Oklahoma:

DeSmet standout wide receiver Durron Neal didn't expect to make a college commitment this soon, but when he found what he was looking for at the University of Oklahoma on Wednesday he pledged to the Sooners.

Just like Maclin.
Will he change his mind like him?

I see ESPN's 3rd overall prospect is the WR from Springfield. That'd be a nice get.

Evan Boehm, the #1 center prospect (or #3 guard) in the country, committed to Mizzou yesterday. And he spurned Oklahoma to do so:

They also snagged Michael Scherer, the #3 STL prospect (per the P-D):

It sucks that they missed out on Durron Neal but it's still shaping up to be quite a recruiting class. And they're still in on Dorial Green-Beckham, the #1 prospect in the country. If things turn out just right, this could be the recruiting class that takes Pinkel's program to the next level.

Will those guys follow Pinkel to Ohio St?

Kidding, of course, but is there any word or did they hire a new HC and I missed it?

I really want DGB, if only because of all positions, Mizzou should be able to convince an elite WR to stay home. Want to win games? 40 wins in 4 years. Want to be the focus? Alexander and Maclin had the offense shifted to maximize their touches, and therefore put up stupid numbers. Want to be NFL ready? Maclin speaks for himself, and Alexander's progress as an UDFA is a testament as well. On the other side, you can go to Oklahoma and continue in the distinguished footsteps of...someone I guess.

I thought I posted in this thread but I must have forgot. Boehm was at the top of my "realistic" wish list. Glad to see he signed. Getting several quality LB recruits is also a good sign.

DGB is one of the most highly recruited can't miss offensive skill players to come along in recent years. Everybody wants him. I don't think Mizzou can afford him. The NCAA would be all over the case when he shows up driving a new F-150. Maybe we could get him to play basketball too. I would guess he ends up at Texas, because they usually get who they want. OU is recruiting him hard along with a few other top WRs so maybe Neal might have to rethink his spot on their depth chart.

The incoming class is pretty crappy, but I gave Pinkel a pass since the depth chart is so crowded with young players. This next class is going to tell us a lot about where the program currently stands. Even if some of the best Missouri kids get away, we can still take a step up in the caliber of players from Texas and elsewhere.

Mizzou also has a realistic shot with Gunner Kiel, the Rivals top-rated QB in the class. The fact that Mizzou seems to be neck-and-neck with Alabama and OU for this kid is pretty amazing. Getting Kiel would be huge in terms of trying to convince DBG to stay home.
