Strong showing for Jenkins tonight. Allowed an unearned run on two hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out eight.

He gets the Keith Law stamp of approval as well.

Code:
Year  Age  Level   Team          G   W  L  IP    H   2B  3B  HR  BB  K   WHIP  ERA   FIP   HR/9  K/9   BB/9  GB%   BABIP
2011  19   Rookie  Johnson City  11  4  2  56.0  63  13  0   3   13  55  1.35  3.86  3.36  0.48  8.84  2.09  59.0  .382

Overall, considering how raw he still is, he's having a very good season. Healthy K rate (it will improve as he refines his pitches), 4:1 K:BB ratio, excellent GB%, low HR%, and a high BABIP showing he's been pretty unlucky despite the success he's had so far this year (which is expected since it's the low-levels of the minor leagues, and defense is terrible for the most part).

A little more hittable than you'd want, but the BABIP covers that, and his BB rate couldn't be better for a raw pitcher.

I'd say that he has actually exceeded my expectations this year.

I agree. I expected him to stall for awhile in the low minors before putting things together and starting his climb. Looks to me like he's ready for QC next year.

It's been a good year for the Cards organization.

8.84 K/9 for Jenkins now, with a 2.09 BB/9. 2.79 FIP. How does a guy that raw and young have a K/BB ratio that impressive? Two years from now we might be talking about him the same way we are Miller and Martinez.

Thanks, and good stuff...Jenkins was probably my favorite pick from 2010.
