Defense is solid average. Good arm, good speed, mixed reviews on routes. On grainy tape he flashes a good first step, and a solid arm.

Limited to corners, especially as his frame fills out.

He only went 1-4 with a HR tonight. His average plummeted to .399. What a bum.

Maybe we can get Matt Thornton for him?

Would the White Sox even want Taveras?

I think there's 30 teams that would want Taveres.

Now, what player they would give up for him, would be the issue.

Can anyone give a guess of Taveras's arrival time on his current path?

Is he looking at:

2012 - Palm Beach
2013 - Springfield
2014 - Memphis
2015 - St. Louis (at age 22-23)

or does anyone think he will move through the system at a faster rate than this?

Assuming his bat doesn't slow down anywhere he goes, then 2014 at the latest. I wouldn't count on that though.

Typical path for Cards prospects these days seems to go
1 year - Rookie League
1 year - QC
1/2 year - PB
1/2 year - Springfield
1 year - Memphis with call-up possible

I would expect Taveras to stay at QC the rest of the year becuase of his injuries. Then just enough time at PB to make sure he'll hit a little there before a promotion to Springfield sometime early next summer.

Timelines are always up to two variables:

A. The player.

B. Opportunities.
