Billy Joel is where it's at.

Uptown girl, she's been livin' in her uptown world.

There's more emotion in "Blue Jean Blues" than the entire Clash oeuvre.

Not even close to true. That said, the 70s ZZ Top was a really fine blues rock band.

I'm indifferent to the Clash. I won't turn them off if they come on the radio but I won't turn it up either.

I think ZZ Top is interesting in that they wrote 500 songs that are metaphors for sex. That takes some skill. lol Where today's musician would just say "she told me to [expletive] on her neck" ZZ Top would say "she wants a pearl necklace."

Maybe I was being fatuous.

Unfortunately, you can't get much of an education on the Clash from the few songs that get air play. I'd give London Calling a listen before I dismissed them completely. Or if you like somewhat heavier stuff, their first album.

Foo Fighters are going to be in STL on 9-17. Even if you're not a big fan I'd encourage you to go. They put on a killer show.

I'd put up the Drive By Truckers show on 10/28 against that Foo Fighters show in a battle of the bands.

I'll check those out, maybe I can discover why people are nuts about them.
