2. Who replaces Tony La Russa?
La Russa's retirement as Cardinals manager on Monday morning was the shocker of the day. The only clue anyone had, and you had to listen carefully, came when he was asked in the celebration whether he was retiring and answered, "I don't want to spoil the moment.''

Well hopefully that was just one of two clues that went out yesterday, the other one being Pujols' "I don't see why not."

Pujols isn't going to make his decision based on TLR. He's going to sign a long-term deal. LaRussa wouldn't have been around for it.

What about the thought that Tony made his decision based on Albert?

That was the first thing that came to my mind.

Well, if I'm 36 years into an intensely stressful job, I'm making the decision because I need a break from it, whether permanent or temporary. Not based on someone else's decision. Hell, he and Dunc have been married forever and he didn't wait for DD to retire.

That would be correct. He's now in the Mariners FO.

I don't think he'd want to be a first time manager at the age of 62, though.

Can't say I'm shocked or surprised.

And, I think it's possible he might manage again elsewhere.
