It's always interesting when people do something like this. Remember a few years ago when Radiohead did the same thing? In fact, I think you were able to download the album for however much you wanted (including for free). You always hear about approaches like this being a success, but I wonder how sustainable of a business model it really is. It strikes me as the type of thing that could have artificially high sales totals the first couple times because of the novelty of the process.

Not trying to sound cynical though, because these approaches are cool/refreshing, and Louie is awesome.

It's hard to put a ton of stock into it because Raidiohead and Louis CK are pretty much the pinnacle of what they do and are beloved by moneyed people from ages 18-45 who would be willing to pay for their favorite artists ideals to be proven correct. I'm really skeptical that it would work for most artists.

He made like 200 grand in profit, all into his own pocket, the first two days or something.

I bought it, didn't even bother to download from his own servers, since the torrents took all of 2 hours max. Will watch tonight.

Screw the middlemen! Ps Louis I woulda seen you live at NY Comic Festival if your show hadn't been 80 freakin bucks.

I would gladly pay $80 if he ever came to St. Louis. He's by far the best stand up around right now.

I had tickets for his Phx show on October 28th this year but something came up so I couldn't go. Good (decent) seats, $45 each.

He's my favorite comedian. I really enjoy his stand-up, and his TV show is really entertaining, in a depressing kind of way. If that makes sense. But I have only paid more than 50 bucks for a live act twice, ever, over hundreds and hundreds of live music shows, comedy acts, plays, etc. 80 bucks is pretty freaking costly. Dude does enough shows in the city he lives in, I just need to get off my ass and buy a ticket to one of his small-time Comedy Cellar nights (the place you see him walk into for his show), etc.
