So I was in padunk suburban St. Louis yesterday, Wentzville I think, and there was a flashing red light because it was 3am. Anyway, I kind of did a rolling stop since NO ONE was with in a freaking mile of me and I think there might have been one of those redlight cameras there because it flashed. So I guess I'm getting a ticket from some small ass piece of [expletive] town in Missouri that can't fund it's own growth and has to resort to absentee policemen.

My question is, if that thing is in your town, why the hell don't you shoot it out or destroy it in the middle of the night? It's routine practice in other parts of the world just to destroy those things. Why the hell doesn't Missouri do it? Those things are all over the place over there, and Missouri is like the deep south of the north so I know they have guns.

First, I don't think Wentzville has a growth problem, I think they are one of the faster growing communities in the metro area within the last 10 years.

Second, why would anyone shoot at property owned by the city they live in when it generates revenue for your own community?

Our community sent us a newsletter letting us know where the cameras where being installed before hand because it prefers to get revenue from people that don't live within the community. It later sent a newsletter letting us know 85% of the revenue came from people outside our community.

Third, who shoots guns in residential communities?

Only a thug is out at 3 am anyway. Now you have some street cred.

Because redlight/speed cameras are unethical? And it doesn't have to be an explosive propelled firearm, a high powered BB gun that produces 1/5th of the noise would do the trick. Of course thats illegal and unethical in itself. I'd just fight against it in my community.

Could you imagine if every stoplight, stop sign had a camera? It's incredibly hard to defend if their one piece of evidence is a photo, because you're guilty until proven innocent with these things. If every place had a camera, even the best drivers would pay 10 tickets a year, many to outside communities, effectively just increasing the size of your taxes and government while giving you no representation over how your money is used since it goes to other communities.

Just raise taxes on your own citizens so everyone pays their share instead of trying to siphon it off other people.

See this is what I'm on about. They are just another tax. If running red lights is such a big problem then they need to have a manned patrol at the light handing out tickets. Instead they use effort that I don't even know how they are constitutional. In the case of red lights you are guilty no questions asked, no due process, nothing. What if someone else is in your car and runs the light? Then you get a ticket for a crime you didn't commit. Atleast in some countries like Japan the machine has to have a picture of your face in the car while committing the traffic offense. These are nothing but a tax on the public.

As for shooting a fire arm in a community, you don't have to use a high powered rifle. You could use a pellet gun and get the job done, or hell even a good throw of a baseball should take care of it. I suppose you could use something like a shot gun with a deer slug and that would be safe. This light is basically in the middle of no where, no houses around, a gas station maybe a quartermile away. It's not like you'd be putting anyone in danger. I don't suppose you have a lot of experience shooting things Doc. Guns can be fired in a safe way when put in capable hands.

BTW in other parts of the country people use expandable foam and spray it in the casing. The foam expands destroying the device. Problem solved.

Anyway, this is the second time I've ever been to Wentzville, it will be the last. I'll just keep trucking up 61 to Troy for gas on my way home from St. Louis.

Are there actual neighborhoods in Wentzville for shootings to happen? I thought it was basically just one giant strip mall.
