From Dave Matter:

Quote:
● Missouri and Nike will unveil the school's new branding images and uniforms on April 14, the day of the Black and Gold spring scrimmage. Missouri is keeping a tight lid on details for the new threads, but Pinkel said MU is fortunate to have two unique features when it comes to the school's brand: the word "Mizzou" and the Tiger head logo. You'll notice he didn't say the block M. There's a reason the Tiger logo replaced the block M on Faurot Field in 2003, and I suspect Missouri's helmets will get a similar facelift. Why the change? I was told a few months ago that when Nike analyzed Missouri's brand profile, the company found that casual fans associate the block M logo with Michigan, even though Michigan's helmets don't feature an M. The Tiger logo is more unique, unmistakably Missouri's. Pinkel said the group of former Tigers now playing in the NFL got to see the new designs last week and gave them rave reviews.

They make some great points. I don't know how many times I've seen people wearing Michigan hats from afar and hoped/assumed it was a Mizzou hat before getting closer and recognizing the blue instead of the black.

I'm really curious to see what they come up with. Truthfully, I really like the way they look as they are. The closer they can stay to the current look, the happier I'll be. Since they're coming from Nike, there's a fear that they'll get the Maryland/Oregon treatment. Shoot for what Nike did to Oklahoma St. and I'll be cool with it.

They could contact my alma mater and ask about licensing our logo.

I could not agree more. Mandatory happy flights next year seems very logical. And yes, I do think a squirrel could play second. The only thing I question is the tortoise in the outfield.

4/14/12 is the date they're making a big deal out of revealing them. It's more than just new football uniforms though, they're going all out with the branding aspect. New uniforms are coming to a bunch of sports(I think Baseball is switching from Under Armour to Nike), and even the home playing surfaces for several sports are getting changed.

I think baseball is already doing Nike. At least I thought. Baseball had the old school M. I am looking forward to the rebranding. I will buy something with the new logo probably so their tactic is working...

Already thought their uniforms looked pretty good. I couldn't give 2 [expletive] about Mizzou, but when they play I generally root for them because I like their uniforms.

I'm not sure that it's a new logo. Or at least, that's the impression I get. They're going to have the same various elements- the tiger, the block M- but they're going to emphasize different the tiger more.

Crap, I don't even know how that happened. Some editing mistakes are obvious, but that one's out of nowhere.
