It can be tough playing on a bad team, the good thing about baseball is you can become completely selfish and simply play for yourself and your own stats and still help the team. Sounds like he is off to a great start, hope he can keep it up.

So true. Even when you play for a team where you hate most of your teammates even though you're a good team. I could go 2-4 with a double and we lose and I would be happier than going 1-4 with a single and winning. I was hardcore selfish.

Every player is like that. Depending on the team etc.. I would have much rather had a good individual game than won the game. There were times where winning was more important, but some games just didn't mean [expletive]. How many HS games did we play that meant nothing? Conference games, playoffs, our "City Series" in Springfield which arguably was the most important of them all - winning was all I cared about (but I hit .429 my senior year in the 6 game series so that was good too). The other half? Pffft ... could have cared less to be quite honest. Summer leagues until we got to the playoffs were all about me, but I did have some of my biggest team moments in summer leagues where winning took center stage. It's more fun when the focus is on winning, but you can still have fun focusing on yourself.
