Re: Having only 1 DVR.
The best part about the DVR for me is being able to pause a game or show live. With the Charter box I have, the unit has two tuners so I when a game starts I will pause it on one and then go watch something else for a bit so that after 20 minutes I can watch the rest of the game without commercials by fast forwarding through them. Usually I can manage to work it so that I catch up to live action right around the end of the game. Even when there isn't a game on I will flip back and forth between the two tuners and never watch and advertisements. When people talk about commercials, I never have any idea what they are talking about.

I have 3 girls and a wife, normal people will watch an hour long program on a DVR in about 45 min, being able to skip through the commercials. It takes us about 3 hrs to watch an hr long show, with all the pausing because I can't hear a [expletive] thing over the noise, or my crazy ass wife getting up in the middle of the show and going in to the kitchen for no apparent reason.

I'll take your word for it but I'll never purchase one.
I am seriously considering giving up free cable to get wireless television thru uverse. It would be awesome to bring the tv out to the sunroom or backyard etc.

Probably. What I meant was if I obtain a DVR, it will be incidental. Not intentional.

To UK, buy one, or get another one for $5/mo. Saves a lot of headaches.

That is what it has been for me. A byproduct getting of Dish Network, then later DirecTV. But now I will always have one.docellis wrote:Probably. What I meant was if I obtain a DVR, it will be incidental. Not intentional.
People still buy DVR's?

Yeah, we had to go w/ 2 of them. My wife controls the upstairs one & in the rare occurance I wanted to record something her shows were always already being recorded so I just got a second one so I can record some crap of I want to.
