Mo: Carp back "In May"
from rotoworld:
"Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said in an interview on 590 The Fan in St. Louis Friday that he's "optimistic" Chris Carpenter (shoulder) will return sometime in May.
He added that the team would look outside the organization for help if he felt the nerve issue in Carpenter's shoulder was going to be a long-term problem, but he doesn't think it will be. It's an encouraging statement from the GM, as Carp's status had been pretty open-ended, but it sounds like he might be out only for a month or so. Lance Lynn will hold down a rotation spot in the meantime. "
The comment about looking outside the organization is interesting, too.

Re: Mo: Carp back "In May"
So about August he should actually be back if the Cardinals doctors are as accurate as they've been in the past?

I just don't see what, based on the medical info we've received and his current indefinite status, would lend one to be this optimistic. But hey, Patella is on the scene, so everything must be okey dokey.

I'd be shocked if he's back in May. Burned too many times by overoptimistic injury reports by the Cardinals, or even worse, when they say May, a guy rushes back to meet that deadline, plays a few games, reinjures himself, and is out for the season. Carps 2008 season and Rolen's 2005 seasons come to mind.
