Mega millions

Post by go birds »

Up to 640 million.

Can you imagine winning that much money?

I think I saw this morning that you have a 1 in 175 million chance of winning.

I think the first thing I'd spend the money on is upgrades to grb. Can we please get a mobile version for Pete's sake!!! Then a Maserati.

Actually I take that back...I'd prolly just pay someone to post sweet messages all day. One less stressful thing for me to deal with.

Mrs. Freed bought tix and I made her feel bad by making fun of the odds and her post-winning scenarios.

She didn't like when I said " can we still talk with our normal voices when we win" ...well, her voice was getting a bit reality TV show-ish when describing grandiose plans.

I've worked on taxes for 3 diff lottery winners - in the $2-9 mill range. Two were chronic casino gamblers-but were conservative with their winnings otherwise. (IIRC we'd deduct their documentable gambling losses on SCH A against their
lottery annuity).

The third's got pissed away on lawyer fees in family fighting over the estate.

And contrary to the stereotype of CPA's - I would definitely take a lump sum payout - or at least sell the annuity payout to someone who pays me cash upfront. F [expletive] the annuity -If I beat the long odds of the lottery, then that means the odds are also probable of the lottery system going broke, or WWIII, or armeggeddon etc

I've always wondered how huge jackpots get pissed away like they do and I know utter stupidity plays a part but jesus how do you blow 100 mil? To me that damn near seems impossible.

If there are 175 million different number combinations and the prize is 640 million, almost 4 times the odds, then each $1 ticket is worth $4. Amirite?

The people who blow it all probably get a lot of help from so called "family and friends" along with business partners who talk them into horrible investments.

I would blow it all on booze and sporting events though. Maybe go Brewster's Millions and buy a baseball team and put myself on the roster.

No, because there could be multiple winners.
