This group really hates Skip so I'd say him.

I'm frustrated at Skip's talent level & his status as a starter last year, but he has my respect. I've never seen less than a 100% effort from that guy. Remember, he was persuaded to try to step in as a 2b'man, & he didn't hesitate.
He does whatever he's asked to try to help the team without complaint, including this year. He's accepting his role as a sub. I'm not excited at all that he's on the roster, when I know younger guys can do the same job at lower pay, but I tell you what, Skip is a classy pro.

++

If Colby had half Skip's heart, he'd be an all-star.

I could not agree more. Mandatory happy flights next year seems very logical. And yes, I do think a squirrel could play second. The only thing I question is the tortoise in the outfield.

I think a dark horse could be Berkman.

In a lot of peoples' views, mine included, Skip was part of the crew that got B Ryan shipped off to Seattle for nothing and in return brought R Theriot in. The opinion was only strengthened by TLR's love affair with Skip and insistence on giving him a prominent role on the team as the 2B starter.

Now that the core of the 'crew' is gone and Skips back to being a role players, not a core part of the team and a starter, I have no problem with him and am glad he's on the team.

Never, but I can see people (unfairly) turning on Holliday.

I meant dark horse in that there's a very small chance that he shows his age, gets injuries, etc, and has a very disappointing season. I expect him to continue to be a very entertaining and productive Cardinal.

If there had to be one, my guess would be the gm. The ones mentioned in the past were easy to dislike because they were outsiders or had a personality that made them easy to dislike. With KMac and Skip they were drafter by the team, reasonably inexpensive and have a useable set of skills. As long as they are used correctly I see no reason for them to be whipping boys.

Skips not keeping anyone off the roster who is more useful really, and while signing KMac was a questionable move I think he can still be effective and useful.

So of we stumble yet again at the deadline and the team falls short of the playoffs I think it'll be on the gm's shoulders. Westbrook and Lohse would also be decent candidates.

I think Westbrook has key qualities for the role of pinata:

Relatively high salary, low production, and a sort of dull demeanor.

Think Ryan Franklin as a starter..

For more discerning fans, it could be the combo of Skippy and K-Mac, whose superfluous contracts combine to incur an opportunity cost of Roy Oswalt proportion. But that's all on Moz.

No, that's on Bill DeWitt, for deciding not to sign Oswalt.

No. Almost completely on Moz. The Cobbler deal was utterly unnecessary so early on, especially if they had their sights on Komatsu and had planned to give Greene every chance of winning the job at 2B while DD was also in the plans. And the K-Mac deal was a real head-scratcher.
